Are you passionate about running? Would you love to get more of your friends or work colleagues running? Perhaps you already take a running group for a club and want to help them improve or make your training more enjoyable and purposeful.
If so, why not become a Leader in Running Fitness and then set up a beginners running group (18+) or support the growth of existing groups in your local area. If you live in North Yorkshire you can gain this qualification at a subsidised rate if you commit to the following:
*Set up and register on the Run England website a new beginners running group for adults (18+) for a minimum of 10 weeks or support the growth of new of existing groups and send monitoring information to North Yorkshire Sport.
How do I become a leader?
All our leaders are supported through the North Yorkshire Athletics Network and North Yorkshire Sport, which means they are supported with training, paperwork, ongoing advice and publicity. They are also qualified and fully insured through the Leadership in Running Fitness course. Therefore in order to become a leader you will need to attend this one day course which is designed to help people who want to lead a running group.
Leadership in Running Fitness Course:
• The one day Leadership in Running Fitness Course (LiRF) will qualify you to lead your own running group.
• Accredited by UK Athletics
• Enabling you to deliver fun and safe sessions to multi-ability groups
• You will be issued with a leaders ID Card upon completion
• We will provide you with all the help, support, materials and advice needed to set your own group up
What will I learn on the course?
CRB Checks
It’s IMPORTANT to apply for a CRB check when you book your course to prevent delays starting your group, as they can take 2 to 3 months to process. All Group Leaders need to provide a current UK Athletics Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance prior to starting a group. Please don't plan to start your group until you have received the disclosure. You can find details of applying for your CRB check here.
CRB checks are FREE to volunteers and £44 for non - volunteers
