Skateboarding News for North Yorkshire.........

10th Jan 2012

Please read below an aricle written by Sarah Agar from Sk8 Safe:

As you may or may not already know Sk8 Safe are starting the year with fantastic news!  We are now officially a Not For Profit Community Interest Company.  This allows us to concentrate all our efforts on delivering our services into the heart of the community, so don’t let money be an issue:  if you can identify and demonstrate a genuine need for our services then please get in touch and we can work together to achieve great results in your organisation.

Sk8 Safe in the Community CIC kicks off 2012 with a duo of exciting courses ideal for anyone looking to facilitate this great sport in their organisation:

Here’s what Heaton Children’s Services had to say about us after the completion of a recent project in their community:

“We first came across Sk8 Safe via their website, we had been looking for a while for a way of facilitating Skateboarding in our school and centre.  With the funding in place already we were really keen to get trained and start as soon as we could.  Sarah and her team were really responsive and within weeks of the initial contact we had completed our Level 2 Nationally Accredited Sk8 Safe Course and were under way.  Sk8 Safe then returned to manage a session with our qualified team as further training. The children really enjoyed the day and it gave them an appetite for the activity.  You could see straight away how the programme impacts positively on the child’s self-esteem and confidence.  Many of the children who attend our school experience challenges in their lives, so the programme provides the children with a great sense of achievement and self-belief.

Skateboarding is a non-aggressive alternative to traditional team sports and as such we are now able to facilitate this activity independently.  We have already set up an after school club (through funding for disadvantaged children) which is achieving great results and it is our intention this academic year to run classes within school.  The Sk8 Safe team are professional, friendly and approachable and we would have no hesitation in recommending Sk8 Safe.”

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Many Thanks
Sarah Agar
