Can nutrition really influence the performance of a young athlete?
What is the relationship between performance and health?
This workshop will focus on identifying the specific macro-nutrient, micro-nutrient and hydration requirements of young sports performers. We will discuss methods of estimating energy and nutrient requirements and consider varying strategies for educating young athletes on correct nutrition for health and performance. The use of sports drinks, caffeine and other supplementation will also be questioned as we look at current guidelines and the supporting evidence.
