The 5th Yorkshire &Humber Coaching Talent Breakfast was delivered by Stuart Armstrong (Talent Lead scUK) on Fri 25 May at Harrogate Cricket Club.
A great morning that was attended by over 20 coaches involved in Talent Coaching from across Yorkshire & Humber…..
As a very small snippet of some of the discussion……
2 under 15 golfers - one has a handicap of 2, the other a handicap of 10
Who gets picked in the county u15s squad? The lad with the handicap of 2? You would maybe expect this to be the case.
Now let’s look more closely. The lad with the handicap of 2 gets quality coaching, only really plays golf and has almost unlimited access to practice. The lad with the handicap of 10 plays lots of sports and hardly practices golf and has received no coaching.
Now who would you pick in the County squad? Which player has the most talent? Do we pick on performance or potential?
