Yorkshire & Humber Local Coach Development Programme

19th Oct 2011

Please find attached the Local Coach Development Programme for 2011/12.  The programme this year has an event specific focus, covering Track & Field and Endurance.  This year’s Track and Field development days will have a split focus, incorporating the principles of both performance and development coaching.  This ensures that Coaches of all levels will benefit from the days and have the opportunity to take away practical advice relevant to their specific coaching groups and environment.

In the morning of these days there are two workshops incorporating the principles of warming up and physical preparation specific to the event of the day.  As a pre-cursor to these event specific workshops we are hold a generic Physical Preparation workshop on Wednesday 26th October, 7-9pm at the EIS in Sheffield.  This session will cover elements of physical preparation including Long Term Athlete Development and basic strength & conditioning techniques and will be delivered by David Parker (MSc ASCC , Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach - British Diving/ Rugby League, English Institute of Sport).  Coaches should attend this session if possible to ensure that they are fully understanding of generic physical preparation, as this will ensure you get the most out of the event specific workshops.

The endurance sessions which cater for all endurance disciplines on and off the track will provide the opportunity for coaches to fully explore specific areas within endurance coaching.

Please see the leaflet for the full list of workshops within the programme.
